I became aware of a technological phenomena that has been “rolled out” in my “system” a while ago.
The scope of this technique is near limitless regarding visuals.
Steps:
- Computer Vision – A camera recognizes an image or visual.
- Processing occurs – measurements and ratio of the image or location of the image and/or visual environment. Prepares the new image to fit the exact, proportions and dimensions.
- The swap is made in the visual system. Indistinguishable to where the old image was, a new image will be displayed.
Just imagine this technique of visual swappery with optical lenses harnessing deepfakes, greenscreens, augmented reality, live video feeds, or artificial intelligence visuals.
I know that these image processing techniques, at this point and time, are highly advanced.
Regarding ethics, it is imperative that we make sure such use of technology includes full disclosure as to it being in use, comprehension – understanding how it works, and consent as to it’s usage.
