Save Chaco! Let The Withdrawl Remain!

A withdrawal disallows new mining claims and mineral leasing on the covered public lands, subject to valid existing rights.

In this notice:

  • No Action: The withdrawal remains → new mining claims and mineral leasing remain prohibited throughout the 10-mile buffer.
  • Alternative 1: The withdrawal is fully revoked → all covered acreage reopens to mining claims and may become available for mineral leasing.
  • Alternative 2: The withdrawal is partly revoked → mining claims and potential leasing reopen beyond five miles; the five-mile buffer remains closed.

“Reopened” does not necessarily mean mining begins automatically. Mining claims, leases, permits, environmental review, and other legal requirements would still apply. Also, existing valid rights and sales of common materials such as sand and gravel are treated separately.
